Recent Project Completion
Edgecumbe School Block A Refurbishment
This project was initiated by the Board of Trustees and the Ministry of Education as part of the school’s 10-Year Property Plan (10YPP), with funding allocated through the 5-Year Agreement (5YA).
A lead designer was engaged to oversee the refurbishment works, and Facilitate Group was appointed as the main contractor following an open tender process.
The scope of work involved completely refurbishing two classrooms, transforming them into modern learning spaces with breakout areas.
This comprehensive internal renovation was completed within a construction period of just nine weeks.

Project Objectives & Constraints
Working within an active school environment requires careful planning to manage risk and ensure safety. The existing admin building’s wall framing needed to be stabilised and secured throughout the construction process.
The key objective was to mitigate on-site risks while delivering the project safely, on time, and within budget, all while maintaining clear communication and managing client expectations.
Project Outcome
The primary objective of this project was to resolve existing weathertightness issues by constructing new 300mm-high concrete nibs. This was complemented by the installation of new weatherboards, aluminium windows, and doors to ensure a durable, weather-resistant envelope and improved overall performance of the building.
